The Enugu Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man, Michael Ayisa, for allegedly robbing a Point-of-Sale (POS) operator of ₦200,000 at gunpoint in Obollo-Afor, Udenu Local Government Area of the state.

The police said the suspect was arrested on October 18, 2026 around 12:26 p.m. by operatives attached to the Udenu Division, with support from members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the arrest followed a report that the suspect had robbed the victim at her shop along Old Orba Road, Uhulor, Obollo-Afor, around 9am on October 17.

The statement said the victim raised the alarm as the suspect fled, allegedly threatening to shoot anyone who pursued him.

Police operatives recovered a pistol resembling a Beretta and an expended 9mm ammunition shell from the suspect.

The command added that the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation and would be arraigned in court after investigations were concluded.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the operatives for the arrest and acknowledged the support of the Neighbourhood Watch Group.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to combating crime and urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities to the police and other recognised security agencies.
